Davy Fitzgerald Will Now Need A New Goalkeeping Coach

Former Kilkenny goalkeeper PJ Ryan was brought into the Wexford Senior set-up last year as a goalkeeping coach after the new managerial appointment of Davy Fitzgerald…

However, PJ Ryan has now acquired a job with his home county as a ‘Games Development Administrator’ and as a result of this, he cannot continue with his role as goalkeeping coach in Wexford.

In Kilkenny, he will replace Jimmy Meagher in a role which will give him the responsibility of rolling out various coaching programmes within the county. His new role will further involve coaching in schools and with clubs in South Kilkenny, working at Cúl Camps plus the development of underage squads.

Speaking to the Kilkenny People, he said:

“I am very excited by the challenge ahead.”

“I have played all my life, so coaching is the next best thing to that.”

According to Colm Keys of the Irish Independent, “under GAA rules, a full-time coach can’t take up a position with any other county or club team, unless it’s their own.”

…Damien Fitzhenry, where you at?
