St Martins Senior Hurling Team Linked With High-Profile GAA Manager

St.Martins aren’t holding back…

After failing to regain the Wexford Senior Hurling Championship in 2018, St Martins are now linked with a high-profile GAA manager.

Former Waterford Senior Hurling manager, Derek McGrath, is reportedly in line to take the reigns of the Martins’ Senior hurling team for the upcoming season.

Renowned Wexford GAA sports commentator, Liam Spratt, echoed the news on Sunday evening’s South East Radio, following an interview with Wexford manager Davy Fitzgerald.

McGrath took charge of the Waterford Senior hurling panel in 2013, lasting five years at the helm before stepping down only recently in June 2018.

Guiding Waterford to an All-Ireland final in 2017 is one of many highlights of his inter-county managerial career.

The DeLaSalle club-man and secondary school teacher would be a huge coup for the Martins, as they’ll be aiming to go one better than last year, hoping to recapture the Wexford SHC trophy from newly-crowned 2018 champions, Naomh Eanna.

The news is expected to be confirmed at St Martins GAA club’s AGM, which will take place on Saturday December 15th.

The news follows Oulart-The Ballgh’s high-profile managerial appointment, which was confirmed following their recent AGM.
