Disgusting Behaviour As Historic Graveyard Vandalised In Wexford

You would have to wonder what would be going through someone’s mind to do this…

Up to a dozen graves at a centuries-old cemetery in Co Wexford were vandalised recently. The Wexford County Council have now warned that it could cost thousands of euro to repair the graves.

The old graveyard, which is no longer in use, is located close to the villages of Tagoat and Rosslare Strand. Headstones were sprayed on with green spray paint and graves were littered with empty cans, beer bottles and rubbish.

“We’re not used to this type of behaviour,” said Cllr Ger Carthy, speaking to RTE.

“If people are going to continue doing this, then I’ll provide a wall for them to spray on or if they want to drink in a public space then that can be organised too but stay away from the cemetery or graveyards in general, ” Ger Carthy said.

This can only be described as a disgusting act.
