Calls For A ‘Pop Up’ Driver Theory Test Centre In Wexford Following Closure

Since the pandemic, driver theory tests are in demand across the country…

There have been calls for a new pop-up test centre in Wexford.

It follows the news that Wexford’s pop-up test centre has been closed for “environmental reasons.” Those booked in to complete their driving test in Wexford were notified to reschedule their booking.

Sinn Fein TD Johnny Mythen has called for a pop-up test centre in Wexford, noting that the Driver Theory Test centre in Wexford could be not for a period of days or weeks, but instead, a period of “months….or longer.”

“My constituency is facing further disruptions to its already overloaded system due to the closure during the week of the driver theory test centre at Pierce Court, Paul Quay owing to a serious environmental issue. The closure will last for a few months or possibly longer.”

“Will the Government consider opening a pop-up centre or other alternative immediately, as we are all aware of young drivers’ need to get to work or college, particularly those in rural settings who have no other means of transport? This situation is leaving young Wexford drivers in a disadvantaged and stressful state,” Mythen said.

Wexford Weekly reached out to the DTT to expand on their reasons for closing and to discuss when they hope to reopen, but they have yet to respond.

  1. This Government doesn’t care about the people, young or Old. People who are waiting for their driving tests cannot drive unaccompanied and so can’t get to work or College through no fault of their own. Would it not be a good idea to allow these drivers to drive between certain hours only and not late at night.
