Wexford-Born Footballer To Complete Move To Scottish Premiership Team

A Wexford-born footballer is set to complete a move to a Scottish Premiership team..

Wexford-born defender, Darragh O’Connor, has completed his move to Motherhwell.

The 21-year-old regularly trained with Brendan Rodgers’ first-team squad last season with Leicester City, having signed with Leicester back in 2019 from Wexford FC.

Just last month, O’Connor was released by FA Cup winners Leicester City, but the Irish Examiner are now reporting that he is set to complete a move to Motherwell soon.

The 21-year-old hasn’t had long to wait for a new club following his release by FA Cup winners Leicester City, earning a contract offer from Graham Alexander.

O’Connor reportedly impressed over a two-game trial period to secure a deal.

It looks like it’s good news for young-gun O’Connor, who will be aiming to make his mark on the Scottish Premiership with Motherwell.

In 2020, Motherwell came in third place in the Scottish Premiership, behind both Glasgow Rangers and Glasgow Celtic. Last season, however, they came in eight place. They’ll be hoping that the signing of O’Connor will help to alleviate some of their problems in defence.
