A Wexford man fought in Russia on Saturday night..
Brian Moore entered the Octagon in Russia on Friday evening, but it wasn’t to be for the proud Wexford native. e
Moore, who is nicknamed ‘the Pikeman’ and fights out of SBG, battled against 22-year-old up-and-coming talent Nikita Mikhailov (7-1-0) in Moscow at Bellator 269.
His opponent Mikhaliov dominated the first two five minute rounds, and in the first round, he inflicted a nasty cut over Moore’s eye.
Moore’s stand-up ability was counteracted by Mikhaliov’s defence and his own ability on the ground as he regularly and successfully shot for take-downs.
Despite the nasty cut, Moore fought through the three five minute rounds and his opponent could not stop the Irish man.
In the third-round and final round, Moore almost got the upper-hand as he attempted a rear-neck and choke and then an arm-bar before the sounds of the Bellator horn went to conclude the fight.
It’ll be interesting to see what happens next for the Wexford man.
