Voting results show that Wexford people vote a resounding ‘No No’ in the referendums

Two referendums took place on March 8th across Ireland…

Although less than half of Wexford people voted, the Wexford people that did vote voted for a resounding ‘No-No’ for the family and care amendments.

Regarding the family amendment, 72.2% of Wexford people voted ‘No’. In relation to the amendment on care, 74.1% of Wexford people voted ‘no’.

Nationally, the Family referendum was resoundingly defeated with the result showing 67.7% voted No and 32.3% voted Yes. Nationally, 73.9% voted no for the care referendum. It was the highest ever no vote percentage in an Irish referendum.

The results were released on Saturday evening.

Electorate 114,653

YES votes 13,348

NO votes 34,791

Vote on Care from Wexford:

Electorate 114,653

Total Poll 48697

Spoiled votes 601

Total Valid Poll 48096

YES votes 12477

NO votes 35619

Turnout 42.5%
