Entries for the Eurotoques Young Chef of the Year 2024 are now open

Online entries for the Eurotoques Young Chef of the Year 2024 competition, presented by La Rousse Foods are now open to professional chefs under the age of 28…

The competition has a proven track record in discovering exceptional young talent, giving all the young chefs who have taken part this contest a unique experience providing recognition throughout Ireland and beyond, and acting as a prestigious stepping-stone in their culinary career. 

The theme of this year’s competition is INSPIRING REGENERATION, with a focus on food waste, food awareness, and food miles. The young chefs who wish to enter the competition are asked to give an example of a small action they would implement in their kitchen to make a difference, whether in their choice of produce (local v imported), working process (composting, plastic etc) or knowledge about farming, fishing, and preservation practices.  

Entrants must post their answer on Instagram, accompanied by a picture or a video and a few words.

The deadline for entering the competition via social media is Friday, 5th April. 

Candidates selected to continue the competition journey, will have to submit a written entry and attend an interview which will determine the 12 semi-finalists. This initial stage of the competition is open to all professional young chefs, independently on whether they work in a fine-dining restaurant or in a more casual environment, provided they have a mentor willing to support them throughout the competition. It is advisable that applicants are currently working in the same restaurant as their mentor. Mentors are not required to be members of the Community. 

The semi-finals of the competition will be held in Dublin on Sunday 23rd June, while the final competition and Gala dinner will be help on Sunday 6th October in Dublin.  

The Euro-Toques Young Chef of the Year competition is Ireland’s premier culinary competition celebrating Ireland’s best emerging culinary talent. Together with fine food specialists and official partners La Rousse Foods, Euro-Toques Ireland have designed educational activities that highlight the importance of community and support in the Irish food industry. Local producers and chefs work together, sharing expertise and products and supporting each other in all their endeavours – a pivotal part of this industry.
