Multiple All-Ireland boxing titles are on the way back to Wexford

There are multiple All-Ireland boxing titles coming back to Wexford…

Taking place in the National Stadium in Dublin over the weekend, there were multiple Wexford winners in the All-Irelands.

Kalib Walshe, who fights out of Wexford CBS Boxing Club, was crowned an All-Ireland champion. It’s Walshe’s fifth time winning the All-Irelands. The young Wexford man defeated Frank Regan (Immaculata) in the 50kg National Boy 4 Championship. He won via a unanimous judges decision, with the judges scoring it 5-0 in favour of Walshe.

Fighting directly after Walshe, Walshe’s Wexford CBS team-mate, Sophie Lawlor, was also crowned an All-Ireland national boxing champion. She defeated Layla Kelly (Baldoyle) to claim the 51kg National Girl 4 Championship title.

Nicolas O’Rourke was also crowned an All-Ireland champion, bringing the title back to New Ross in County Wexford. O’Rourke fights out of St Mary’s Boxing Club. He won 4-1 on the judge’s score-cards and defeated Conal Dunlop (St Pauls) in the 39kg final.
