Two Wexford boxers crowned U17 Boxing Champions at National Stadium

The 2025 IABA National U17 Champions have been crowned, and hail from 11 counties..

They include Antrim (3), Armagh (1) Cork (3), Down (2), Donegal (2) Dublin (9), Galway (2), Meath (1)Tipperary (2) Westmeath (3) and lasty Wexford with (2).

In all, 130 boxers from 73 clubs contested this tournament across a two-week period.

Wexford natives Sean Kelly and Kalib Walshe were crowned champions.

These champions will now go forward to National Squad Training, in consideration of selection for the 2025 European U17 Championships, taking place at the Olympic and Paralympic Training Centre in Kienbaum, Germany from December 8th to 18th. This is the inaugural confederation-level World Boxing championships for this age group.

Congratulations to 40kg Danielle Smithers (Swords BC, Dublin), 40kg Ryan Seery (Glasnevin BC, Dublin), 42kg Heidi Carolan (East Meath), 44kg Rylee Finn (St Nicholas BC, Tipperary,), 48kg Abby Murray (Muskerry BC Cork), 63kg Claire Crowley (St Martha’s BC, Cork), 75kg Isabelle Hawkins (St Nicholas BC, Tipperary ) and 80kg Carly Norris (Santry BC, Dublin) who claimed their titles during boxing on September 14th very kindly hosted by Holy Family Boxing Club, Drogheda, Co.
