Status Yellow weather warning issued for Wexford

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow weather for Wexford and several other southern and south-eastern counties…

The Status Yellow Thunderstorm warning covers Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Waterford, and Wexford. It is valid from 2:00pm to 7:00pm this afternoon, Wednesday 27 May 2026.

According to Met Éireann, scattered thunderstorms are moving northward from the south, bringing the risk of localised heavy downpours, lightning, and hail.

Potential hazards include lightning and hail which could cause damage to property and vehicles. There is also a risk of slippery roads and reduced visibility in heavy showers, which could lead to traffic incidents. Sudden gusts of wind may accompany the thunderstorms.

Residents and road users in Wexford are advised to take extra care, particularly between now and 7pm. Motorists should slow down in heavy rain and watch out for surface water and fallen debris. Those working outdoors or involved in outdoor activities should remain vigilant for lightning.

This is a Status Yellow warning, meaning weather conditions could lead to minor disruption or damage in some areas.

Motorists and members of the public can stay updated via Met Éireann’s website or their mobile weather app. Wexford County Council has not issued any specific road closures at the time of writing, but conditions may change quickly.
