A convenience store in County Wexford has issued a public appeal after what it says were counterfeit notes were handed over in the shop…
In a notice displayed on social media, Lambert’s Londis in Camolin stated that fake money had been used in a transaction and that the individual involved has been identified through CCTV footage.
The store is now urging the person responsible to come forward and resolve the matter before 10pm.
Management warned that if the issue is not addressed by that time, all relevant footage and information will be passed to An Garda Síochána for further investigation.
The notice also highlights the seriousness of passing counterfeit currency, reminding customers that the circulation of fake banknotes is a criminal offence.
Counterfeit notes remain a concern for retailers across Ireland, with businesses encouraged to remain vigilant and report suspicious currency to the authorities. Consumers are also advised to check banknotes carefully and familiarise themselves with the security features found on genuine euro notes.
Lambert’s Londis thanked customers for their understanding and cooperation as the matter is addressed.
