Keith Rossiter provides update on Wexford managerial future

Wexford Senior hurling manager, Keith Rossiter, has provided an update on his managerial future…

The Oulart-The Ballagh man stepped into the Wexford Senior hurling managerial role in 2023 on a three-year term when he replaced outoging manager, Darragh Egan.

Prior to that, Rossiter was manager of the Wexford u-20 hurling team.

As a player, Keith represented Wexford at senior level for more than a decade and was a member of the squad that won the Leinster title in 2004. He also tasted significant success with his club, Oulart-The Ballagh, winning ten Wexford Senior Hurling titles (including two as captain) and one Leinster Senior Club Hurling Championship.

The Oulart-The Ballagh club man has now provided an update on his future as Wexford Senior hurling manager:

“CLG Loch Garman has today (Friday) announced that senior hurling manager Keith Rossiter has indicated he will not be seeking a fourth year in the role. The Oulart-The Ballagh clubman confirmed his decision during a meeting with County Chairperson John Kenny this morning,” a statement read.

During Rossiter’s three years in charge, Wexford failed to qualify from the Leinster Championship on two occasions. In his first year (2024), Wexford qualified in third position before losing out to Clare in the All-Ireland quarter-final.

The Wexford Senior hurlers were dealt with significant blows ahead of the 2026 season. Muliple players including Rory O’Connor, Eoin Ryan, Conor McDonald, and Cathal Dunbar all opted out of the panel for various reasons making it an uphill battle from the start.

There is widespread acceptance that Wexford are now in a period of transition.

In other local inter-county managerial news, Kilkenny’s manager (Derek Lyng) and Waterford’s manager (Peter Queally) will not be continuing in their positions — and both counties will be on the hunt to find a suitable replacement.

The Wexford Club hurling championships will return to action in late June. There will be more jeoprady with Wexford club hurling games for the 2026 season, with the team(s) that finishes in 6th position of Group A and Group B being placed directly into the relegation final.
