Met Eireann Issue Orange Weather Warning For County Wexford

Co Wexford is bracing itself for another storm and an orange warning has been put in place for Monday evening…

Storm Francis will track across the country late on Monday night to which it will bring heavy rain and strong winds to much of the southern coast.

A weather warning has since been put in place by Met Eireann with Co Wexford braced for the one of the worst to be hit by the wind and the rain. A status orange rain warning is also in place for Connacht, Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Cork, Kerry and Waterford.

“Intense rainfall associated with Storm Francis is expected at times Monday night and Tuesday, leading to accumulations of 40 to 60mm (higher values in mountainous areas),” a statement from Met Eireann read.

As well as the orange warning, a yellow wind warning will be in place for Co Wexford. Winds are expected to reach average speed of 55/65 km/h with gusts up to 110 km/h.

Storm Francis comes just less than a week after Storm Ellen hit the Southern coastline, causing over 200,000 homes to be without power
