Wexford GAA’s ‘The Wexford Way’ Document Described As A Game Changer

Wexford GAA launched ‘The Wexford Way’ last night..

Wexford GAA’s new ‘The Wexford Way’ document was launched yesterday evening over Zoom.

In its simplest form, the purpose of ‘The Wexford Way’ is to help guide coaches, managers, mentors and parents who play an active role in developing young Gaelic footballers and hurlers.

It also provides a framework for the development of skills, fundamental movement, physical focus and game specific capacities that coaches can follow stage by stage.

The Wexford Way Player Pathway is a systematic approach adopted by Wexford GAA to maximise player potential and increase the enjoyment of all our players.

The intention is to provide coaches with guidelines and recommendations in the form of a repeatable, staged framework, in order to give our young players, the best opportunity to reach their full potential at whatever level they might play.

The 80-page document also provides examples of best practice for all age groups as well as giving examples of age appropriate games and activities.

‘The Wexford Way’ guide has been described as a ‘game changer’ for coaches across the county.

The document was created by the Wexford GAA Coaching team. The Wexford GAA Coaching team consists of Ray Harris (Games Development Manager), Anthony Masterson (Games Development Administrator), Shane O’Hanlon (Games Development Administrator), along with a number of Games Promotion Officers including Al Monohan, Seamus Byrne, JJ Doyle, James Donoghue, James Flynn, Lloyd Colfer, Barry Leavy, Seamus Casey and Geraldine Curtis.
