[Report] Wexford GAA To Appeal Matthew O’Hanlon’s Red Card

Wexford and Antrim could not be separated in Corrigan Park on Saturday…

Full time:

1-21 Antrim

2-18 Wexford

__

One major talking point from the game was Davy Fitzgerald’s sending off by referee Patrick Murphy. Another talking point was the straight red card and dismissal of Wexford’s centre-back, Matthew O’Hanlon.

RTE has since reported that Wexford GAA will challenge the sending off of Matthew O’Hanlon.

O’Hanlon received a red card for interference with Neil McManus’ helmet, although it did look like McManus was the instigator of it all as he charged at the Wexford native. Despite this, McManus only received a yellow card, while O’Hanlon received his marching orders.

This can be seen from the video evidence below:

O’Hanlon has been a crucial figure in Fitzgerald’s set up over the last number of years, and Fitzgerald will know that he will need his full compliment of players moving forward.
