It appears that the Wexford u-20 management team will be revamped ahead of the new season…
That comes after it was confirmed at a recent Wexford GAA County Board meeting that a search for an u-20 manager had commenced.
The 2020 managerial set-up included manager James Sheil, who took over the team in 2019, and highly regarded selector, Joe Fortune. Fortune, who won a Dublin Senior title while managing Ballyboden St-Endas, joined up with Sheil in 2020.
It has now been confirmed that Joe Fortune will be moving into inter-county management as the Wexford native will be joining up with the Westmeath Senior hurlers for the upcoming season.
In a short statement, Westmeath GAA confirmed the news and stated that they were delighted with their new man-in-charge:
“Joe is a native of Wexford who has recently been associated with Dublin hurling. He menaged Dublin to the Leinster u-21 title in 2016, while taking charge of Ballyboden for a number of seasons and when they collected county senior honours in 2018. He was then involved with the Wexford u-20 hurlers,” an official Westmeath GAA statement reads.
Best of luck to Joe with his new venture.
