Wexford Native Signs For League Of Ireland Side Cork City FC

A Wexford native has been signed up by Cork City FC…

Cork City FC, who play in the League of Ireland, have signed a Gorey native ahead of the new season.

On Tuesday, Cork City FC announced the signing of goalkeeper, Corey Chambers. Chambers, who is from the Gorey area, played Schoolboys soccer in Wexford with Gorey Celtic.

Cork City FC are pleased to announce the signing of Corey Chambers.

“I am delighted to be here; I have been training with the lads for the last while, and it has been very enjoyable. We are all working extremely hard every day and it is a good environment here. I look forward to continuing the hard work with my teammates and the coaching staff, and we are all looking forward to the season ahead,” Chambers told CorkCityFC.ie:

City boss Colin Healy also commented on Chambers’ signing:

“Corey has been in training with us the last five or six weeks and he has done well. He has trained really hard, he has a great attitude and this is a good opportunity for him,” he said.

Chambers is not the first Wexford native to be signed ahead of the new season. A nineteen-year-old Wexford native was also snapped up by Bray Wanderers recently.

In other football news, it was also recently announced that Wexford native Ryan Delaney has found himself a new English club, as he has secured a loan deal for the end of the season.
