Wexford have a new Poc Fada champion for 2022…
The Wexford Poc Fada competition took place at the Wexford Racecourse yesterday and Wexford have a new champion.
Poc Fada is Irish for “long puck”. It’s an All-Ireland Poc Fada Championship which is held annually testing the skills of many of the top Hurling and Camogie players.
Wexford’s newest Senior men’s Poc Fada champion is Darragh Hayes, who hails from the Oulart-The Ballagh club.

He dethrones Callum Quirke from St Martins, who was the 2021 Wexford winner.
In other related news from the competition, Lauren Carroll (Geraldine O’Hanrahans) was crowned the Senior Camogie winner, Tom Cummins Jnr (Horeswood) was the U-16 Boy’s Winner, while Shauna McSweeney (Askamore/Kilrush) was named the U-16 Girls Camogie Winner.
Both Darragh, along with the other Wexford winners, will now move on to represent Wexford in the Leinster Final which will be held on Mount Leinster on June 25th.
