Gorey Market House Festival Will Not Be Going Ahead This Summer

The now annual Gorey Market House festival will not be going ahead this summer…

The news follows the Government’s recent announcement regarding mass gatherings. Under the new restrictions, no gatherings of over 5,000 people will be allowed until the end of August, which has ruled out the Gorey Festival.

The Gorey Market House Festival is one of Wexford’s best weekends of the year and in the past, it has been host to Mark McCabe, Aslan, John Gibbons, and a Queen tribute band to name just a few of the top acts.

Cillian Byrne, a spokesperson for the festival, stated that the budget set aside for the festival, will now be spent on local services throughout the community:

“Whilst this saddens me greatly, I’m happy to say the funds which were to be spent on it, will now go toward local services in their fight against COVID 19”
