Offaly Hurler Reminisces About Greatness Of One Former Wexford Player

An Offaly hurler spoke very highly of a former Wexford player recently..

Former Offaly hurler Brian Carroll was on the most recent episode of The Hurling Podcast.

He spoke highly of the all-time great Wexford hurler Damien Fitzhenry, who was the Yellowbellies number one shot-stopper in a career which spanned over two decades.

”He broke my heart on too many occasions. He was unbelievable and a sound man. I got a goal against him in a practice match — and that was about the heights of it for me. I don’t think I got a goal against him in the Champonship or in the National Hurling League.”

“For someone to be in goal and to be such a big player for a team, that speaks volumes,” Carroll said.
