County Councillors Set For Significant Pay Rise This Summer

The Cabinet is set to approve an €8,000-a-year pay increase for the country’s 947 city and county councillors.

County Councillors currently earn €17,600 a year. The pay increase will increase a county councillor’s salary to €25,600

The proposal was recommended in 2019 with the publication of the 2019 Moorhead Review.

Under the changes, unvouched expenses for local politicians are to end and be replaced with a verified costs system and audits in all councils. Error, group does not exist! Check your syntax! (ID: 1)
