Future Of Ferrycarrig Park In Doubt As Petition Created

The future of Ferrycarrig Park may be in doubt…

A petition has been set up by Wexford FC to protect their home ground, Ferrycarrig Park.

Ferrycarrig Park is an essential part of the football landscape in County Wexford.

Ferrycarrig Park is best known for hosting League of Ireland football for Wexford FC, from Senior Men’s to U13 National League and every level in between.  It also hosts Wexford Youths Women, the strongest women’s football team in Ireland in recent years.

It regularly hosts Wexford League representative matches and Cup Finals, providing a neutral venue with excellent playing surface, good facilities and great sense of occasion.  It has hosted underage international fixtures, the only venue of its kind in the county, and has hosted children’s summer camps for all to enjoy.

The future of Ferrycarrig Park is now in doubt following the decision to opt for Option C for the new motorway to Rosslare Harbour.

“We believe that Ferrycarrig needs to be protected in relation to the N11/N25 Oilgate to Rosslare Harbour Scheme.  Wexford County Council is seeking the public’s views in relation to possible routes of this new road, and by signing this petition you can express your desire to see this important community facility protected for the future,” the statement reads.

Over 400 people have signed the petition to protect Ferrycarrig Park.
