A Wexford County Councillor has informed An Garda Siochana over a video shared online…
A video, which was shared on both TikTok and Facebook, claimed to show that Wexford County Councillor – Jim Codd – was “caught red handed.”
The video shows a jeep allegedly speeding, however, the caption suggests that Codd was driving in the jeep.
Cllr Jim Codd, however, has informed An Garda Síochána about this video and refutes that he was driving the jeep, suggesting that “politics is a dirty game.”
As family members and friends seen the video with the caption, Codd was forced to release a statement on the matter, noting that he has informed the local Gardaí on the matter too.
“This happened over night while I was meeting with representatives from Fishguard attempting to forge better economic relationships with our district. Thank you to everyone who contacted me about this, including my elderly mother who saw this absolute lies online. The Gardaí have now been informed,” Codd said.
“Politics is one dirty game. I’ve had people say the most fowl things about me since I became a representative six years ago. Most of those saying it don’t know me,” Codd said.
Along with refuting the matter, Codd spoke about how people online have a sense of entitlement in the current digital age:
“There seems to be a culture of entitlement in our country today where workshy keyboard warriors can reap the benefits of our welfare state while, not only contributing nothing, but actively engaging in tearing down anyone who attempts to work for the betterment of society. I have a friend who risked his business and personal income to help those most in need and, after getting nothing but the cruellest abuse for over a year and reaching mental breaking point, had to give up his philanthropy. Is this where we are at as a society now? A place where absolute wasters have the right to say and do anything they wish to those who would work for the betterment of the locality,” Codd explained.
